NCEW Recap: Accelerating Decarbonization

On the final day of the 2023 National Clean Energy Week Policymakers Symposium, Theresa Christopher of Amazon sat down with CEOs from across the clean energy industry—including Eric Dresselhuys of ESS Inc., Adrian Corless of  CarbonCapture Inc. and Seonghoon Woo of Amogy to discuss how private sector innovation and investment can accelerate decarbonization technologies.

The key theme was the need for policy that rewards and invests in American companies working to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors and reduce emissions.

As Woo said, “There needs to be more active policy implementation happening.”

The panelists also emphasized that policymakers and businesses alike must work hand-in -hand to scale up new clean energy technologies for the rest of the nation.

“Partnerships, for us, are critical,” said Corless.

Unifying efforts from Congress, the administration and the private sector help drive the adoption of innovative energy technologies in communities around the country.

“When people start to see real momentum, this isn’t a science project anymore. It’s stuff happening at scale, in production, that’s really making an impact,” said Dresselhuys.

By working together, policymakers, businesses and the investment community can unlock the full potential of clean energy technologies and pave the way for a more sustainable future.

The panelists agreed finding common ground will allow everyone to find solutions. As Wills said, “We all want the benefits of clean energy, and we all want clean power. One way or another, we all want it.”
