Deployment
Deployment of new technologies and infrastructure is critical to continued reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and access to affordable energy. To ensure America’s continued leadership in lowering emissions, we must remove barriers to access resources, build energy infrastructure, and deploy new clean energy technologies.
In what may have been one of his last appearances as a leader of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Commissioner Neil Chatterjee delivered frank remarks about his tenure and offered optimism for the Senate-passed infrastructure package during CRES Forum’s latest webinar, “Resiliency and Clean Energy: Keeping the Lights on While Reducing Emissions” held on […]
WASHINGTON, D.C.— National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) today announced that its fifth annual celebration of the policies, industries, and innovations driving American clean energy will be held Monday, September 20 through Friday, September 24, 2021. NCEW 2021 will be a hybrid of virtual conversations and in-person events in Washington, D.C. Among the unique programming offered throughout the […]
Conservatives cherish their natural environment and believe in responsible management of our country’s resources. They also believe in pursuing clean energy development through ambitious projects that create jobs and grow the economy. Reasonable regulations and oversight are warranted in many cases, but increasingly, a long-standing and antiquated federal policy has delayed many of them. With […]
Hydropower is the United States’ oldest and most reliable renewable energy resource, and its potential still is not fully tapped. As we work to decarbonize the power sector, hydropower’s unique benefits are an essential part of any climate solution. Moreover, hydropower has great potential to produce more power with a smaller environmental footprint than ever […]
Last year marked the third-strongest year for domestic wind power development. Wind developers added over 9,000 megawatts wind power to overall U.S. capacity. That’s 20 percent over the progress made in 2018, which sets 2020 on a course for strong progress in wind power. Now there are almost 60,000 wind turbines in operation across the […]
The United States is continuing to diversify its renewable energy sources, including a recent commitment to research and development in geothermal energy. Geothermal energy is a clean and renewable energy source that uses the heat of the Earth. It is growing rapidly in the U.S. and globally, with tremendous economic benefits and a bright future. […]
As originally published in Bloomberg Law Insights The appetite for renewable energy is growing and the East Coast is a top target for companies looking to invest in wind energy. Sarah E. Hunt, with the Joseph Rainey Center for Public Policy, and Charles Hernick, with Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions, explain how wind could end […]
The U.S. Energy Storage Association is urging Congress to make stand-alone energy storage eligible for federal Investment Tax Credits (ITCs). The ESA is calling for Congress to pass a 30 percent ITC for energy storage before the end of this year. CRES Forum has previously described energy storage technology as one of the five ways […]
As originally published in Maryland Matters Despite the sweltering heat, there’s much to celebrate when you step outside in Maryland this summer. Bald eagles, osprey, and blue heron once on the brink of local extinction are back. We haven’t seen numbers like these on the Chesapeake Bay since the days of Captain John Smith four centuries ago. […]
Energy storage has been used for almost a hundred years in one form or another, but it has much further to go and is critical to long-term energy efficiency. As the technology improves, energy storage has become an attractive concept in the age of carbon reduction— but this is a complex topic, and many of […]
